The Duality of Man

April 2025
Publication (ISTD)

140 x 200
GF Smith Mist 135gsm
GF Smith Jungle 270gsm

The content of this publication encompasses a broader sphere of art, history, culture and philosophy, with a particular focus on the life of Fransisco Goya; a Romantic painter who found himself subdued by the oppressive regime of Spanish society during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Given events which occurred centuries prior to our existence bode undeniable similarities to the modern man, in the modern day. It is through arduous research and inquiry that calls to us, down to our fundamental human nature. Those who existed lifetimes past, hold striking similarities in regards to our instinctive behaviours, the ways in which we engage with, and hence respond to life around us.

Man’s Folly

March 2025
Art (D&AD)

Secret 7” Submission

This cover is intended for the track ‘Return to Oz’ for War Child. This concept explored the cyclical nature of human destruction and folly. It aims to highlight the absurdity and cruelty that seems inherent in human nature. The circular composition reinforces the looming sense of inevitability, with surreal imagery depicting a maze of conflict; suggesting that the desire for escapism only fuels self-destructive behaviours. Ultimately, this work aims to convey a bleak and pitiless view of humanity; a poignant commentary on man’s innate tendency to repeat patterns of violence and ruin.

Strategy

Bosena is a Cornish-based production company founded by Denzil Monk. Ecosophically minded. Creatively driven with meticulous attention to detail. Rooted in but not limited by Cornwall.

We designed an identity for the Cornish production company Bosena, whose work explores the craft, and appreciation of film as a cultural act. The identity itself is heavily inspired by the intricacies of Celtic weaving and knot work, aspiring to create a cohesive visual that not only reinforces Bosena’s holistic approach to the art of film, but encourages traditional cultural iconography; a reminder of the ‘true’ origins of the company itself.

Analogue Type

Print

This short-format project explores the expressive potential of typography through physical processes and mixed media. Building on previous investigations into letterforms, the work centres around the theme of duality, contrasting experimental, textured characters with more refined, structured forms.

Photobook 24

July 2024
Publication

I20 x 180
GF Smith Accent Recycled 120gsm

This project explores the foundational question “What is design?” through a minimal, monochromatic visual language. Emphasising composition, negative space, and structural balance, the outcome is a refined print piece that reflects an early stage in the development of a personal visual identity.
